Did you know Houston has a Love Lock Bridge? The concept comes from the well known Pont des Arts bridge in Paris. Padlocks are attached to a chain-link fence along the bridge by couples to symbolize their undying love. Houston’s Love Lock Bridge is a pedestrian bridge located above Allen Parkway and offers a great view of the city's skyline.
If you are using your navigation system to direct you, once it says, "You've arrived!" the bridge is likely right above you. If you're driving, please don't look up, ask your passenger to pinpoint the bridge. Parking should not be an issue, however, waiting for a space on the weekend may require patience.
Houston's Love Lock Bridge is steps away from Buffalo Bayou Park/ Eleanor Tinsley Park so making a fun outing of your trip to the Love Lock Bridge would be a great idea. Pack a picnic blanket, charcuterie box, and some refreshing beverages (no glass containers or alcohol allowed) and grab a spot on the grass at Eleanor Tinsley Park. Take a nature hike on one of the many trails or enjoy the self-guided "Buffalo Bayou Revealed" audio tour. Maybe a family bike ride is more of your speed...don't worry, they've got you covered (click here).
I hope you're able to get some cool pics at the Love Lock Bridge and enjoy the surrounding area. Keep an eye on the weather and plan accordingly. If Valentine's weekend doesn't work for you, maybe a day date or just a weekend outing some other time will. Feel free to tag me on Instagram or send me an email, I'd love to see your pictures! 💖
